I pull up the message app on my phone and text Julio.

Me: Do you still want to take me out?

Julio: I'll always want to take you out. Is that a yes?

I look up at Alex, and he is busy playing with the kids and the guys. Let go. I take a deep breath, smile, and let go.

Me: Yes. As long as it doesn't get you in trouble with the Kings.

Julio: I got the green light from your brother, but here, you're in control. I'll pick you up at seven on Friday. What's your favorite color?

Me: Red.

Julio: Como las rosas.

Me: Como el corazon. The heart and flowers usually come in the color red.

Julio: Red it is, then. I can't wait to see you, beautiful. Say hi to Maxim for me.

Me: I will.

I hear Katalia settling in the lounger next to me and turning her head. I look up from my phone and smile. "I got a date for Friday."

"You're nervous."

I'm unsure. I'm scared of everything but I have to be strong and be happy. I have to let go of my past and hope it doesn't catch up and finish destroying me.

I scrape my nail with my thumb, knowing I'm crossing a line. "Yeah, but I have to try and move on, right?"

"I did and it worked out. I know it will work out for you too. We are all here to help you. You know that, right? You're not alone."

"Thanks, Kat."
